All You Need to know Equipment/Gameplay/Terminology

Equipment Needed to Play Cornhole

To play cornhole, you'll need the following equipment:

Cornhole Boards: Cornhole boards are typically rectangular and have a hole at one end. The standard dimensions for a cornhole board are 2 feet in width and 4 feet in length. You'll need at least two boards for a game, one for each team.

Cornhole Bags: Cornhole bags are small fabric bags filled with corn kernels or beans. Each player or team usually has four bags of one color. These bags are used for tossing and scoring in the game.

Gameplay

Cornhole is a lawn game played with two wooden boards placed a fixed distance apart. Two teams take turns throwing cornhole bags, aiming to land them on the opposite board or, ideally, through the hole. A bag through the hole scores three points while landing on the board earns one point. Teams play to a set score, often 21. The game combines strategy and accuracy as players try to outscore their opponents while also trying to block their throws.

Terminology Used in Cornhole

Pitch/Toss: This term refers to the act of throwing a cornhole bag towards the target board.

Frame: In cornhole, a frame is a single round of play where each team takes turns throwing their bags. A standard game usually consists of multiple frames.

Innings: Similar to frames, this term is used interchangeably to describe rounds of play in cornhole.

Woody: When a bag lands on the cornhole board and stays there, it's called a "woody." Each woody is typically worth one point.

Cornhole: When a bag is thrown through the hole in the board, it's called a "cornhole" or "hole-in-one.”
